Lee Heiman has been an attorney for nearly 29 years and an Intellectual Property specialist for the past 16 years. He has previous extensive trial experience, corporate entity formation experience, and commercial transactions experience, enabling him to fully advise his clients on integrating intellectual property into a comprehensive business strategy. His practice encompasses the following:
-  development strategy, prosecution, and management of intellectual property portfolios, including the procurement, development, licensing, and transfer of patents and other intellectual property for the following business communities: biotechnology; medicinal chemistry and pharmaceutical; academic tech transfer; data security; and systems management
-  technology-driven company business development
-  providing patent legal advice and opinions on patentability, infringement, validity, and freedom to operate intellectual property rights procurement and enforcement

Lee has Co-Founded technology-based start-up companies and is uniquely qualified to provide business-focused IP advice and services for small and start-up technology-driven companies—“in-house counsel” for companies too small to employee counsel full time. He is admitted to practice law in the State of California and is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, the U.S. District Courts for the Central, Southern, and Eastern Districts of California and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

Lee has an extensive history with the Association of University Technology Mangers (AUTM), serving as a past member of the Board of Directors and Vice President for Industry Relations; as a four time Co-Chair of the AUTM Eastern Region; and on the Online Professional Development and Sponsorship Committees. He is also the former Maryland Chapter Chair for the Licensing Executive Society (LES). He currently teaches “IP for Scientists” for the NIH Foundation for Advanced Education in the Sciences Graduate School.
